Our Guides

Who will take you to your Lemosho Trek?

When you climb Mount Kilimanjaro on the Lemosho Route with Tranquil Kilimanjaro, you’re not going alone—it’s forbidden to trek without a guide, and we’ve got a fantastic crew to support you. The team is made up of skilled guides who lead the way, along with cooks and porters who keep everything running smoothly. They’re all picked carefully to make sure your trip up the mountain is safe, fun, and memorable.
The guides are the heart of the crew. They know Kilimanjaro like the back of their hands—every path, every tree, and every animal. They’ve been climbing it for years, so they’re super experienced and fit. Tranquil Kilimanjaro makes sure their guides are some of the best around. They speak English well, but if you’d rather have someone who speaks French, Spanish, or German, just let them know. These guys are trained in first aid and mountain rescues, so they’re ready for anything, whether it’s altitude sickness or a tricky spot on the trail. They keep a close watch on you to make sure you’re okay and help you reach the top with a smile.
The crew doesn’t stop with the guides. There are cooks who whip up three tasty meals a day to keep you strong, and porters who carry all the gear—like tents and food—so you can focus on climbing. The guides work with everyone on the team to make sure you’re taken care of, no matter if you’re trekking solo or with a big group. They’re friendly, professional, and happy to chat about the mountain’s history or the local Chagga people who live nearby.
Tranquil Kilimanjaro treats their crew well, too. The guides get fair wages right after the trip, plus tips shared out fairly. They’re given good gear—warm clothes, waterproof tents, and sleeping bags—to handle the cold and wet up there. And they eat three solid meals a day, just like you. This crew is all about making your climb up the Lemosho Route a great adventure, and they’ve got the skills and heart to pull it off.

Porters on the Lemosho Route trek

About Lemosho Route Team

The porters on the Lemosho Route are the backbone of the climb. These hardworking guys, usually 18 and older, come from the local area around Mount Kilimanjaro, often from the Chagga tribe. They carry all the heavy stuff—like tents, food, cooking gear, tables, chairs, and even portable toilets—so you don’t have to. By law, they take on loads of 15 to 25 kilograms (sometimes a bit more) to lighten your burden and make the trek easier for you.
They do more than just carry things, though. Porters set up camp, fetch water, and help the cooks get meals ready. Depending on the route—like the Marangu, which uses huts, or others that need camping—you might have two or three porters per climber. They’re strong, fit, and know the mountain well from years of helping climbers. Tranquil Kilimanjaro treats them right with fair wages paid right after the trip, good tips, warm clothes, and three solid meals a day. They’re proud to support you while earning a living for their families.
