Airport Transfers
Pick up & Drop off, before/after your Lemosho Trek
When you sign up for a Lemosho Route trek on Mount Kilimanjaro with us, we’ve got your airport transfers covered. This means we’ll pick you up when you land and drop you off when you’re ready to head home. Here’s how it all works in easy terms, with some extra details to help you plan.
What’s Included
Every Lemosho trip includes getting you from the airport to your hotel before the climb and back to the airport after. We usually use Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), but we can also pick you up from other nearby airports like Arusha Airport if that’s part of your plan. Before you start climbing, we’ll take you to a hotel in Moshi or Arusha to rest up. After your trek, we’ll make sure you get back to the airport on time. Everything—transfers and hotel stays—is sorted out ahead of time so you don’t have to worry.
Meeting You at the Airport
When you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will be waiting for you. Look for one of our guides holding a sign with your name on it, along with our company name or logo (like “Tranquil Kilimanjaro”). This makes it super easy to find us, even if the airport’s busy. It’s your first day in Tanzania, and we want it to go smoothly!
How Far Is It to Your Hotel?
To Moshi: The drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to Moshi takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes, depending on where your hotel is. It’s around 67 kilometers (42 miles). Moshi’s a chill town near the mountain, perfect for relaxing before your climb.
To Arusha: If you’re staying in Arusha, it’s a shorter ride—about 1 hour. The distance is roughly 51.7 kilometers (32 miles). Arusha’s a bit busier, but it’s still close to Kilimanjaro.
The roads are pretty straightforward, but traffic or hotel location might tweak the time a little.
Getting Settled at Your Hotel
Once you’re at your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, we’ll set up a time to meet with your guide or a team member. This is your pre-climb chat! We’ll go over your Lemosho itinerary—day by day—so you know what’s coming. They’ll check your gear too, making sure you’ve got everything you need, like warm clothes and sturdy boots. Got questions? This is when to ask! It’s a great chance to feel ready and excited for the trek ahead.
Heading Back After Your Climb
When your Lemosho adventure is done, we’ll take you back to the airport. Whether it’s Kilimanjaro International, Arusha Airport, or another spot we’ve agreed on, we’ll get you there. We plan this drop-off based on your flight time and what you’ve arranged with us. You’ll probably be tired but happy after reaching Uhuru Peak, so we’ll make this part easy.
Flying Home: Timing It Right
For international flights, it’s smart to get to the airport 3 hours before takeoff. Stuff like delays can happen—flights don’t always run on time—but it’s on you to be there early enough. When we set up your return transfer, we’ll pick a time that gives you plenty of wiggle room to check in and relax before boarding. Tell us your flight details, and we’ll work it out!
Staying in Touch
When you book your Lemosho trek with us, we’ll give you a local phone number to keep handy. Save it in your phone before you leave home. If anything goes wrong—like a lost bag or a late flight—you can call us right away. We’re here to help while you’re in Tanzania, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
Why This Matters for Lemosho
The Lemosho Route is a long, beautiful climb—7 to 8 days of trekking through forests, moorlands, and up to the summit. Having transfers sorted means you can focus on getting ready and enjoying the trip. No stress about taxis or directions—just land, meet us, and start your adventure. After, you’ll be tired but thrilled, and we’ll get you to the airport without a hitch.
Extra Tips
Let us know your flight times early so we can plan the perfect pickup and drop-off.
If you’re adding a safari or beach trip after, we can adjust transfers to fit that too.
Pack light for the ride—your big trekking bag can go with the porters later!
With us handling the airport stuff, your Lemosho trek starts and ends smoothly. You just enjoy the ride—and the climb!
