Choose Lemosho Route the best & Most beautiful Route on Mount Kilimanjaro

The Lemosho route gives you every reason to pick it when climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and there are plenty of reasons why tour operators and climbers alike, choose this route as the overall best route for ascending the mountain. It is one of the few newly introduced routes on Kilimanjaro and it is an improved version of the old route called Shira Route. Lemosho measures about 72 km or 42 miles making it one of the longest routes on the mountain.

How to climb Kilimanjaro using Lemosho Route

The Lemosho Route trip begins with pick up at the airport, preferably Kilimanjaro International Airport followed by pre trek briefing and gear/equipment check where we will cross check if you have all the required gear. The following day we will drive you from Moshi or Arusha to the trail head of Lemosho Gate, a journey that takes 3 hours from the town to the cultivated villages nearby the mountain.

The accent trail of Lemosho begins from the Western side of Kilimanjaro and the first part of trekking crosses the rainforest zone to take you to Shira Plateau . We continue hiking northwards. We carry on trekking upwards to ascend over the Lava Tower, before descending the Barranco Valley a hike that rewards you with the astonishing views or the area.  After climbing the Barranco Wall, we go round with the trail in the Southern circuit towards Karanga and camp at the basecamp of this route located high at the Barafu hut campsite. From Barafu is where we make the summit push towards uhuru Peak, the summit of MNount kilimanjaro. Here warm gear is needed as the temperatures here drop to give you chilly weather and strong winds. The summit attempt begins at around midnight to ensure we arrive at the summit at sunrise. After you descend using the Mweka Route, you will collect your summit certificates before we get you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha whereby we will drop you off at the airport to depart or join a safari.
